Mark Fuszard

 Mark Fuszard. Paramedic BSc (Hons) MCPara.  Owner/Manager.

 

Joining the Ambulance Service in 2000 and quickly progressing to Paramedic and HEMS Paramedic in 2006 Mark also joined the Ambulance Service Training Team as a bank Clinical Tutor.  In 2014 he received the National award of “Paramedic of the Year” at the Air Ambulance Association Awards in London. Mark is also an Associate Lecturer at Plymouth University where he trained students at all levels on Major Incident Management as well as clinical skills.

Mark is Managing Director of Omega Medical and heads up his specialist team by providing on-going support and medical cover to many events and organisations to provide health and safety, risk assessment along with medical advice.

Mark’s wealth of knowledge enables him to offer support and advice to anyone delivering an event with the large range of specialist medical cover he offers.

For the past 3 years Mark has been heavily involved with the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Extrication and Trauma Team and successfully coached the Team into the World Finals in Portugal where the team did extremely well. Taking early retirement from the Ambulance service in 2016 after 10 years as s HEMS Paramedic on the Cornwall Air Ambulance Mark wanted to concentrate on developing Omega Medical. With a Bsc (Hons) in Urgent and Emergency Care along with a host of other higher level medical qualifications Mark saw an opening for a Specialist Medical and Rescue company in the South West.

Stuart Croft

Stu has been in the Ambulance Service Since 1992 and has achieved a great deal in that time with the last 14 years being a HEMS Paramedic on the Cornwall Air Ambulance. Stu is one of the first Paramedics in Cornwall to become a Specialist Critical Care Paramedic after completing a BSc Hons in Emergency Care and now over half way to an MSc in Critical Care studying at Plymouth University. Stuart is also a Clinical Tutor for the Ambulance Service as well as a mentor to new members of the team. Stu is passionate about Pre-Hospital medicine and and we are proud that he is one of the team at Omega Medical.

Andrew Byatt

Physiotherapist

 

Andrew Byatt. Physiotherapist.

 

Andrew, or "Milky" as he is affectionately known, is the Physiotherapist on the Team at Omega. Milky has not only been on the GB Triathlon Team (National age group bronze medal) but gained the Title of World No 1 Quadrathlete, National Kayak Bronze medallist and European Lifesaving Medalist to add to the list of sporting achievements. A Winston Curchill fellow and Author of the National Event Water Safety Guidelines and Surf Lifesaving National Coaching Programme makes Andrew our No 1 "go to guy" when it comes to water safety events. A Lecturer at Combined Universities of Cornwall also lets us provide quality instruction in sporting injury courses.

Andrew's Qualifications include:

John Clark

Risk Management Consultant - Event Health and Safety.

After 2 years with the Rhodesian Infantry, Johns first "proper" job was as a conservation officer (Game Ranger) in the Kafue National Park, Zambia. Johns early professional life in the UK was as an officer in Royal Navy with a secondment to 40 Commando Royal Marines. On leaving the forces he completed a BSc (Hons) in Marine Engineering and an MSc in engineering safety and moved into a career as a safety engineer. John then spent 20 years advising and leading projects for a range of industries from heavy industry to British wild life parks. Additionally John has been fortunate to run, advise and provide logistical support for a range of expeditions in central America (Belize), North Africa (Sahel region) and Caribbean.

Qualifications include: BSc Marine Engineering.MSc (Ergonomics & Safety Engineering) Chartered member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH). Swift Water Rescue Technician (level 1) Commercial Diver (Parts 3 & 4) BSAC Advanced Diver &  Joint services Sub Aqua Diving Supervisor (military) Yacht Master Ocean K38 swift water and open water PWC rescue boat operator. Expedition Leader (military) Field Guide Association of South Africa (FGASA) level 1 field guide.  NRA Range Conducting Officer – Gallery rifle & pistol range / High Muzzle Energy (HME). Attended  2015 -2016 NVQ 4 Bushcraft Leadership Course

Dr. Brian Needham

Dentist. Specialist Paramedic Urgent Care.

After leaving school in 1980 joined the Royal Green Jackets, initially as a foot soldier before going on to join the band and bugles as a musician. In 1991 he was called upon to serve alongside H.M Scots Guards as medic for a 250-man strong infantry battle group during the first gulf war.

Brian joined the Royal Berkshire Ambulance NHS Trust in 1994 as a trainee Paramedic achieving qualification in this role in 1996 and then as a work-based assessor/instructor in 1997. The year 2000 saw Brian and his family move to Cornwall into the employment of South Western Ambulance Services NHS Trust. He then went on to qualify in 2008 as a Specialist Paramedic, having achieved a 1st Class Honours Degree in Emergency Care from the University of Plymouth. This enabled Brian to gain access to the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in 2010, on a four-year bachelor of dental sciences program where (at age 46) he was one of the more mature students! Following graduation he has worked in general dental practice but remains a qualified Specialist Paramedic working occasional bank shifts for the ambulance service.

Brian being a qualified dentist and Specialist Paramedic has an enthusiasm for Pre-hospital care and passion for training Dental staff in Emergency First Aid. Brian’s skills were recently put to good use when a customer collapsed and had a cardiac arrest in the Dental Practice. The patient was successfully resuscitated thanks to effective basic life support and the use of a defibrillator - something Brian is keen to cascade to all dental staff with our bespoke training course.

 

 

Chris Williams

Fire and Rescue Service. Co-Responder. PHTLS.

Chris Williams.

 

Chris is the Lead Clinician in the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Extrication and Trauma Team, reaching the Nationals and World Finals several times over the past few years. 

 

As well as a retain Fire Fighter and Station Officer at Mullion Fire Station, Chris is also Co-Responder with the Fire Service attending many call outs on behalf of the Ambulance Service.

 

Many years of experience and training in extricating patients from Road Traffic Collisions as well as his expertise in fighting fires makes Chris a valuable member of Omega's Team. Chris will be heading up the Fire and Rescue cover that Omega Medical Specialist Medical Rescue can offer to small/medium size events as well as Consultancy to all types of events.

Nicky Fuszard

Company Secretary and Finance Director. Welfare and Safeguarding Lead.

Nicky is the Company secretary, Financial Director, Internal Quality Assessor and is the glue that holds Omega Medical together!  Nicky is also the Welfare and Safeguarding Lead making sure our clients customers remain safe throughout the event. With a background in Finance, Courts Service, Enforcement as well as Customer Service, Nicky ensures the smooth running and high standards that make Omega Medical stand out against the rest.
